risk.

I decided I'm going to try a little 'quote of the week' deal.  I'm obsessed w/ quotes...all kinds: motivational, success-related, love/cutsie, political, etc, etc.
I write them down constantly, all the time, everywhere I hear them.  I have multiple notebooks and note tags in my phone of quotes I hear and love.

This quote isn't actually one of my favorites, but kind of fits perfectly with my life and experiences right now.
I first was drawn to it because of the reference to the Sistine Chapel.  My sister and I went to Europe a few years ago: France, Italy, and Switzerland.  Despite the long-tiring tour that day, I remember the Sistine Chapel being one of my absolute overall favorite places we visited.  Maybe that's the artist in me, because my sister had no desire to ever see it again, but I was so intrigued and amazed and just wanted to sit there and stare at the ceiling for hours!  Did my neck hurt?  Yes.  Did I care?  No way.  It was amazing.  It was unique.  It was one of those things that "isn't" or "shouldn't" be done.  But did Michaelangelo care?  Nope.  It happened.  He took a risk for something he wanted and made it happen.
I think that is what I absolutely love about photography and art.  I can do whatever I want.  You can push the limits, you can break the rules, you can go completely outside the boundaries....and that's what makes it amazing, new, and fresh.  I love knowing that I don't ever have to get stuck on "no, you can't do that".  I can do it.  I want to do it, so I will.

I've also been getting all this incredible motivation lately from watching the Secret and following the 'Making Things Happen' blog',  its been much needed as I have made the decision to go full-time w/ my photog business in Utah.  It's a huge risk.  It's the beginning of my career.  It's happening.  I am so passionate about it and have made up my mind with a clear-cut vision of what I want and I know that it's going to work out because I care enough to make it.
So here's to taking risks on a Tuesday:)
